CVL Windwalker aka "Winslow" is one impressive fella and a gentle giant as well. With extensive training for show jumping and dressage he stands a whopping 17.2hh and is a wonder to watch perform. With a successful 1.40m jumper career on the "AA" hunter/jumper circuits then retiring to compete in dressage through the levels to PSG, Winslow's an ideal all-around stallion with success in multiple discipline to pass on to his offspring.        Windwalker is by the great Hannoverian stallion with World Cup I lines "Wonderful." The 1989 Elite Hanoverian stallion Wonderful, by Weltmeyer out of SPS Bonny/Bolero, owned by Violet Jen of Wonderful Sport Horses, Sunnyvale, Calif., and bred by Heinrich Ehlers, Ger. The German FN ranked Wonderful as the number one young sire in 2000 based on the FN competition statistics achieved by his 44 competition offspring. He also sired six States Premium mares, two German mare show Grand Champions, one U.S. Elite Mare and six Verden auction horses. All of these records were accomplished with a crop of 99 foals that he sired before he was purchased for sport. Starting with his sire, CVL Windwalker has a true pedigree of champions to pass on to his offspring.

SIRE

Wonderful, Windwalker's sire, was purchased in 1995 for sport and imported to the US in 1997.  However, in 2000, German FN ranked Wonderful the #1 dressage sire in the younger stallion category based on his offspring's show records in Germany. He achieved the impressive dressage breed index of 156. Wonderful achieved scores up to 85% at M-Level dressage, and had learned all FEI movements by the age of eight. Wonderful has 51 foals registered with the American Hanoverian Society (AHS), and six AHS Main Studbook mares, including one Elite Mare. He was also approved by the ISR/Oldenburg N.A., GOV and Westfalen registries.

Wonderful was Reserve champion of the stallion licensing at Verden, Germany out of 100 stallions in 1991. The Hanoverian State Stud Stallion Book describes him being with excellent conformation, striking nobility, a very good type and expression. He is bred out of a good dam line and has passed on his excellent dressage talent. He started competing at M level (3rd - 4th level) dressage in 1996 and has been winning with scores of 80 - 85%. At age of only 7, he started schooling all Grand Prix movements. (The video was taken when he was only 8.)

Wonderful served at the State Stud for three years. Many of his foals won at breed shows in Germany. In 1996, a 2-year-old filly was the champion of her class and the Grand Champion at Bargstedt Mare Show. Again, in 1997 the Bargstedt mare show champion was a mare by Wonderful.

In June, 1997, three 3-year-old filles by Wonderful were awarded States Premiums at Bargstedt mare show. Also in the United States, the inspection overall champion mare, and one of the only three Hanoverian mares that scored 8 or above at the 1997 AHS inspection tour was a black filly, Wondergirl by Wonderful. In 1999, Wondergirl went on to win her mare performance test with an overall score of 8.33 and an incredible ridability score of 9!

His first US foal crop arrived in 1999. They span from Rhode Island, Virginia, Florida, Canada, all the way to Hawaii. Among his US foals, we have inspection and breed show champions, impressive stallion candidates, and several foals were successfully sold before they were weaned with prices as high as $12,000. Wonderful's other imported offspring have also been observed to be successfully marketed at $40,000 to $50,000.

He has been a sire and grandsire to several horses participated in the prestigious Elite auctions in Verden, Germany. At the 1998 Fall Elite auction, Winwood, a 3-year-old gelding by him, was selected and imported by Pan Am and World Equestrian Game Gold Medallist Debbie McDonald. This youngster went on to represent the US for year 2000 World Breeding Championship in Holland with owner/trainer Heather Bender. He also finished 2000 with many wins in CDS and USDF championships with scores as high as 80+%. He was also the champion of USDF All-Breeds award at First Level in 2000, and Reserve Champion of USDF All-Breeds award at 3rd level in 2001.  In 2003, at e 8, Winwood has started his winning way at Prix St. George and I-1.  He was 4th in the nation to qualify for the USEF Intermediaire-1 Championship held with 2004 Olympic Selection Trial in San Juan Capistrano.  Olympian Debbie McDonald selected Wonderful to breed for her sponsor River Grove Farm.

Wonderful's US crops are still young, but already have started to shine in the USDF Breeding in-hand classes and low level dressage.  He has foals ranked highly in the USDF Sporthorse in-hand Year-End Awards while their amateur breeders only showed a few times for fun.

Wonderful is a proven sire with very high pre-potency of passing down his athleticism and gentle temperament. His older offspring produced when he was in Germany have demonstrated that they are not only good as foals, but also when they become performance horses. The statistical Breed Index of 156 says it all!

1ST DAM

Windwalker's 1st Dam Arianna is by the Oldenburg sensation Frowind who was approved by: Oldenburg NA/ISR and GOV (German Oldenburg Verband) by Furioso II x Windstille by Weltmeister. This Five Star stallion is producing successful offspring in dressage, eventing, hunters and jumpers. Twice USEF Leading Sire for standing at Woodridge Farm in Oklahoma.

Frohwind is a 16.3h, mahogany bay stallion, born in 1984. He is by the legendary Furioso II - an Anglo-Norman stallion who has influenced the modern breeding of Oldenburg like no other stallion before him. He produced more than 50 approved sons and his progeny winnings of more than DM2.6 million are a unique success of a sire. He enjoyed an enormous popularity far beyond the borders of Oldenburg. Furioso II is by Furioso xx - the most successful sire in France of his time, who produced a number of Olympic horses. His dam, Windstille, is by Weltmeister who for years was one of the most popular stallions of Oldenburg. He sired 34 licensed sons, including Welt As, and 56 State Premium mares, inlcuding Elfene - twice chosen for the DLG and Champion of the first "Show of the Best" of Oldenburg . In competition his offspring are predominately dressage and included Walzertakt ridden by Robert Dover. Windstille herself was a winner on the line at Devon and ridden for many years in dressage by her owner Dr. Anne Ramsey, FL.

Frohwind is fully approved for breeding by ISR/Oldenburg North America, the Oldenburg Verband and Canadian Sporthorse Association. Frohwind was Champion of his 100-days stallion testing at Rancho Murietta, CA with 137.54 points. He scored 9's for Willingness to Work, Ability to Work and Rideability. He is and outstanding athlete and competed in Dressage to Prix St. Georges, Open Modified Jumpers and Preliminary Eventing.

Frohwind is one of only five stallions to be awarded "5-star" status. These stars are awarded for Conformation, 100 Days Test Results, Performance, Premium Offspring and Success of Offspring.

Frohwind has certainly proven himself as a sire. He has produced 122 premium foals and many premium mares. He was also the USEF Leading Sire of Half-Arabians in 2000 and 2003 and was 2nd on the Leading Sire list for 2005. His offspring are competing successfully in dressage and hunter/jumpers as well as combined driving and in-hand shows.

2ND DAM

Windwalker's dam lines continues to impress as his 2nd Dam Britannia is by the great influential Hannoverian stallion Bolero. Bolero is also seen on Windwalker's sire side as well adding even more of a DNA percentage of such an amazingly influential stallion from his grand Dam Bonny. Despite the relatively short breeding career, Bolero was remarkably influential on the breeding of dressage horses. His high degree of Thoroughbred blood brought an elegance to his progeny, and this trend toward a lighter dressage horse has been on the rise since he stood at stud. He consistently produced offspring with good shoulders and toplines, as well as elastic and rhythmic gaits.

Bolero was the founding sire of a new B-Line in the 1990s, and produced the stallion Brentano II, who also became a foundation stallion for this line. Bolero was found to be most successful with daughters of Grande and Duellant. Breeders continue to cross the B-Line with the G- and D- lines to produce successful dressage horses, as well as those by Argus.

The stallion sired 47 licensed stallions during his time at stud, the most important being Brentano I and II, Buenos Aires, Bismark, and Beltain. As a well-known sire of sires, Bolero sons have been exported around the world. Bolero has also made a name for himself as a sire of broodmares, producing 317 mares that went on to be registered, 96 of whom earned the status of State Premium. The great success of his mares gave him a dressage ranking of 139. Bolero participated in his 100-day stallion test held at Adelheidsdorf. He stood at Landesbrück from 1979 until his death. He only stood for 9 seasons, making his impact on the breeding of Hanoverians even more spectacular.

Bolero has become known as a symbol for the modern riding horse and is a classic example of the refining influence the Thoroughbred has had on the modern Hanoverian. The Hanoverian stallion Bolero continues to impact the international dressage scene through his progeny. Bolero, a classic foundation stallion in the Hanoverian Verband, is one of the few sires to produce a new foundation stallion, Brentano II, along with other top stallions, Bismarck and Brentano I. Also, three of Bolero's descendants medaled at the 2004 Olympics in Athens--Beauvalais ridden by Spain's Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, Bonaparte ridden by Germany's Heike Kemmer and Brentina ridden by American Debbie McDonald.

Windwalker is a remarkable stallion with a pedigree of very influential sires. With the acquisition of Windwalker by CVL Monserrate Stud, he is proudly offered to discerning breeders and trainers in the North American market through his progeny.
